Spyder is more of a MySpace management tool rather than a friend bot, which in our opinion is a great route to go these days. This is for Mac OS X only, sorry Windows users. The interface has a (typical) nice Mac OS X feel, it actually behaves a lot like iTunes except for your MySpace account.
You can create lists of friends in the sidebar for the software to work with, or simply search for keywords and send actions to relevant users. What we tested worked smoothly without error but there are a few features that are restricted to demo users that we could not try. Overall this seems like a great application for the Mac crowd. It appears that it’s still being updated/supported too.

The Good:

  • You can send automated friend requests and messages/comments but this software feels more like a management toolbox. It’s a great way to keep track of your thousands of MySpace friends without ever going to the hideous MySpace.com. :)
  • CAPTCHA support. This is untested by us but since you have to pay for it… we assume it works. Comments about this anyone?
  • Extracting friend IDs has never been easier. It’s fast too.

The Bad:

  • The “nag” window that asks you to register when the software launches… doesn’t go away! We tried clicking the “X” at the top left and it does nothing. We’re not sure if this is a bug or intentional, but it’s annoying.
  • No built-in browser. But really, why would you want one for MySpace?
  • It’s a bit expensive but seems to be worth the cost.

Notes:

  • Nice interface that differentiates itself from most friend bots.
  • We recommend this product.
