The user interface is simple and easy to learn. You can use just about all aspects of Twitter’s search engine to collect profile IDs for the software to use. There is no built in browser to find them on your own unfortunately. You can also keep track of your account statistics; following/followers ratio, API rate limit and how many actions the software has sent thus far. We had no problems collecting profile IDs, in fact we were impressed by it’s speed and efficiency. Plus it has a feature to search for Twitter users by keywords in their bio.

 

The software apparently will be available for Linux and Mac OS X soon. Quote from the Tool Smith website: “Fully developed in wxWidgets so it’ll be available on every platform (e.g. windows, linux, and mac) going forward.”

The Good:

  • Clean and simple interface.
  • Collecting profile IDs is fast and efficient. We suggest they add buttons to add/remove individual profiles to/from the list.
  • Appears to do it all: follow/unfollow, automated tweets and direct messages.
  • Fair price. It is even on a special discount offer at the time of the writing of this article.
  • Will be available for Mac OS X and Linux soon.

 

The Bad:

  • Fairly simple as it’s still in beta. No proxy support, built-in browser or log files.
  • There is a bug where the software does not check to see if the account login was successful or not. We have reported it to the developers and it should be fixed soon.

 

Notes:

  • Tweet Whistle is lightweight and efficient. It definitely gets the job done and is worth the price.

It only automates following and unfollowing, no automated tweets or DMs.
The great thing about this friend bot is that is doesn’t use the Twitter API to follow/unfollow, it does it manually like you would with a conventional web browser! Unfortunately there is no trial version but we have heard plenty of praise about this software, we’re sure it lives up to it.

  • It specifically focuses on following/unfollowing, the primary way of marketing yourself on Twitter. It also does not use the Twitter API and actually automates in a human-like manner.
  • It has an easy-to-use interface with a built in browser.
  • This is one of the most highly acclaimed Twitter friend bots available today. It is still being updated/supported.

 

The Bad:

  • The software focuses purely on following/unfollowing, it lacks other potential features.
  • No trial version to try before you buy.
  • Expensive!

 

Notes:

  • Although it’s expensive we’ve heard a lot of success stories about this software, it seems to be worth the cash.
  • We recommend this product.

The highlight of this software is that all of its features can be tied together in the “Automation” section to make it a consistent 24 hour tool.
Yep, you can set it up to do everything for you throughout the day; automated tweeting and @replying, follow/unfollow, send direct messages, etc. Overall it’s fairly east to figure this application out and it seems to be very lightweight and stable.

The Good:

  • Useful “Statistics/History” section that tells you your followers/following ratio as well as what Twitter profiles the software has been contacting.
  • All necessary features included such as auto follow/unfollow, auto DM/tweet, time intervals between actions, statistics and log files, multiple accounts and proxies.
  • Free video tutorials and support via e-mail.
  • Supports both Mac and PC. We tested both and they appear to run exactly the same.

 

The Bad:

  • We couldn’t find the “Who to Follow” list! This is the list of user IDs we collected on the “Who to Follow” tab, the software seems to collect the IDs successfully but doesn’t reveal it to the user. Developers: Is it hidden somewhere or is it just not available to the user for some reason?
  • No built-in browser.
  • It’s pricey but you get what you pay for.

 

Notes:

  • Although the TweetAdder interface is a bit messy, this is a powerful Twitter friend adder. Plus it supports both Mac and PC!
  • It definitely tops Lively Browser’s Twitter Friend Adder in both features and price.
  • We recommend this product.

During our tests though we found it to be well constructed and very stable; no errors were received and all actions were quickly processed on Twitter. It supports multiple accounts and proxies and includes a built-in browser.
It automates following and unfollowing but no direct messaging or automated posting. We hope Lively Browser will add more features to the software soon. The software is expensive but seems worth while.

  • Seems very stable and well built.
  • Features include an account manager, follow/remove friends, time intervals between actions, customizable actions, proxy support, built in browser, etc…
  • It’s fast and it informs you of what it’s doing in the console at all times.
  • Support forum and automatic update feature.

 

The Bad:

  • The user interface is clean but it can be slightly overwhelming to figure out at first.
  • No automated tweets or DMs.
  • No account chaining feature. (Multiple accounts)
  • Expensive.
  • Unattractive website and sales page. (Just being honest.)

 

Notes:

  • The free trial version allows you to run the software three times before having to register.
  • Regardless of this being a solid piece of software, $50 is a tad excessive.
  • We recommend this product.
